Renaissance
For the era of the Renaissance, I prefer Warhammer: English Civil War (WECW) rules. I played Gush’s famous green book rules a few times, but found them slow and antiquated. While not perfect WECW, is a fun game and is capable of stretching to cover the wider Renaissance era. I am really interested in the Italian Wars of the early 16th century. I am a sucker for Gendarmes and Swiss pikemen. Currently I have a large 28mm Polish Renaissance army by Old Glory. This is one of the better OG ranges except for the Winged Hussars which I do not like. I use Redoubt figures for those, but I will switch to TAG (The Assault Group) hussars. I had this army painted in Sri Lanka by Fernando Enterprises several years ago (I painted the Hussars). It fits the period of the TYW period (1600s to 1650s). The sad thing is, they have yet to see combat on the table for lack of opponents. I am using a great list made for WECW by ???, available on the internet. Hopefully, there will be more movement with army lists and supplements for this nice set of rules.
Link to the Polish Army Supplement (it has all the enemies of the Poles too)
