Seven Years War
For the era know as the ‘Age of Reason’, I prefer Koenig Krieg rules written by Barry Gray. They are a straight forward and fast playing set of rules. I have a large 15mm French Army from the Seven Years War era by Old Glory. While I painted a few of the units, I had the bulk painted in Sri Lanka by Fernando Enterprises. They did a nice job for the price. It comprises about 30,000 men at 1:50 scale. I hope to expand the army, adding Guard, and several more infantry and cavalry brigades. It is not the greatest army to game with (see my comments on the Koenig Krieg rules). I guess I can empathize with players who play Austrians for napoleonics. The reality if facing Prussians led by Frederick or Brunswick, the French need a numerical advantage to make the game competitive.
I plan to expand into the Malburian era using the Koenig Krieg expansion covering those wars. I will build a French army again. I might use 10mm, as the armies are quite large in this era.
