My Assyrian Army
Painting My Foundry Assyrian Army
I have just started to paint this army for WAB. I will use thicker bases than normal so I don’t have to mount the figures on nails. I have broken my 2000 point list into painting jobs that I think I can do in a single month. Typically that is about 24 foot and 2 chariots. There are a couple of challenges. One the Assyrians wore stripped pants (or socks that went over the knee). This will be a pain to do for each figure, as I have to be a bit creative with designs. Also, I can’t decide if I want to try rigging the chariot reins or just going without. I will update my progress and provide picture as I move forward. The Assyrian range by Foundry is an excellent range with lots of variety and detail. It will not be a winning army in a tournament, but it will look very nice.
I have finished a spear unit.

These look great – every bit as good as the ones on the foundry site. How did you know which color to paint the shields?
The osprey book has a picture of a spearmen with a blue shield. I was going to use blue and red for the spearmen. Guard infantry would have a large round shield with a fancier design.
